Why Lzzy Hale Will Take 2018 by Storm

Women in metal are not rare. You just expect them to be behind stage watching, waiting, and doing.

Lzzy Hale, the lead singer of Halestorm, said fuck that.

Like many before her Joan Jett, Stevie Nicks, Lita Ford, Ann and Nancy Wilson, Lzzy has taken the stage and shown that the rock and roll stage is not just for men.

Lzzy formed the band Halstorm in 2009 and has been stealing the show for nine years. She has innovated a hard rock sound with southern influence. She has not been afraid of shying away from the pulse pounding heavy metal which screams in you face like I Get Off, while also showing her soft side with a heart wrenching ballad like, I'm Not An Angel. With their 4th studio album, 11th Hour, due to be released this year, Hailstorm should be on your radar.

Her real influence is towards women who stereotype the metal world has a male dominated society, where women don't have a place. She has taken this idea and turned it on its head.

Since Halestorm took the world by storm there have been a plethora of bands showcasing strong independent front women. The Pretty Reckless formed just after Haletorm and is fronted by Taylor Momsen.

Lzzy has been one of the most successful of women within the modern metal scene, but she derived a lot of influence from Amy Lee, lead singer of Evanescence, and Maria Brink, lead singer of In This Moment. These bands formed in the early 2000s and played a roll in giving Halestorm a platform for powerful women within the metal community.

Her songs speak to women of the world who know they aren't just meant to give into patriarchy. Women can and most definitely have the capability of being a force to be reckoned with.

Hailstorm comes into 2018 full force touring the United States and releasing a new album.

Keep you eyes open, cause Halestorm will be rolling through your town soon. Get the bunkers ready.
