3 Modern Bands Keeping Metal Alive

The general population may think that metal is a dying genre. This is far from the truth.

The past few years have bestowed the metal community with some promising bands. Their new sounds have given new life to the genre.

1. Bad Omens

Bad Omens as released one studio album and toured around North America on Warped Tour the summer of 2017.

This band is apart of the modern metalcore movement and has separated themselves from the pack with their philosophical lyrics mixed with heavy breakdowns. You can hear the influence from both Asking Alexandria and Bring Me the Horizon.

2. Dance Gavin Dance

Dance Gavin Dance has successfully combine jazz and heavy metal in a way that leaves the listener stunned and in complete awe.

The bands has a singer and a screamer, both playing off of each other diversifying the auditory aesthetics. The singer has beautiful alto voice, while the screamer blows your face off.

Strange enough, when the singers switch the song will take a swift shift from a nice smooth jazz to a head banging breakdown. Their influence is most notable off of their most recent album, which is their biggest commercial success, Mothership. Its new, its different, its addictive.

3. Nothing More

The singer has a Jim Morrison look, but goes way harder. This band has been making riffs in the metal community and has made their way to the top by a spastic singer and heavy riffs. Their shows are coupled with a lot of onstage accessories and keeps the viewer guessing what the hell they will do next.

Nothing More has changed the game by adding electronics to their heavy metal sound. Though you will not hear a blistering guitar solo, Nothing More will give you a singer that can melt your heart and then immediately shatter it to pieces in the span of seconds.
